Hello Mansfield! I am running for City Council - Place 5 and would like the opportunity to earn your support and VOTE. We need a councilman that isn't beholden to other parties or tied to many other influencing factors/people. Someone that will ask the tough questions and not be afraid to push back on the developments or other plans that are not in the overall best interest of Mansfield, it's residents and small businesses.
More Apartments...I don't think we need any more complexes. But understand this, mixed use also means apartments, just not the traditional way you think. Mixed use will allow for stores and/or offices or businesses to be "mixed in" with apartments and townhomes. We have all likely seen this before. The key is to ensure the development offers enough for the residents while not over burdening the area and infrastructure with unwanted traffic. In many of these deals, the developer is receiving $$ millions in tax breaks, abatements and other incentives or assistance to complete the development. We must ensure we do not give away too much for too long and that the worst-case scenario or potential downside of an economic downturn doesn't devastate the city and its obligations promised to the development.
With all the development and construction approved in the city, it amazes me that no one on or running for city council has any construction experience. I intend to bring a different mindset to the council and ask the questions others don't seem to know how or what to ask. If it isn't right for Mansfield, it shouldn't happen in Mansfield.
This is one of my citizen comments sessions from 3/24/25 where I was again, fighting for disclosure and our small businesses. As I stated, this wasn't my first time. This was a concern long before election season.
Regular people and true small businesses need a seat at the table!
We need to know what is really going on.
We need to make sure we help the businesses we have and not just the ones (or developers) of the future.

I look into numerous City projects around town to inform the residents of what is going on with their tax dollars.

Promises, Promises - When will Mansfield get this elusive new main street?
Why is it always in redesign?

There is more to the downtown businesses' survival and demise. More needs to be done in conjunction with other projects.

Just what all is being built here?
MEDC had no real idea. I haven't found much information from the city on this...are they involved? Or is the developer just building whatever is already allowed?

Geyer Commons is a city funded park project that will hopefully be used weekly and at full capacity when completed. Market buildings, play areas, and shops or restaurants will all be a part of this project.

We all know it! The roads in Mansfield have issues. From new, old, rebuilding, or needing more...we need to look into the costs, bids, and overall projected planning. Especially when related to all the new developments being built.

The Water Mill District - Phase 1 will usher in a long-needed redevelopment of downtown. But we need to monitor this and other deals as to the long-term payouts and ROI for the area. This needs to move forward along with real action on the Historic Downtown block too.

Fire Station #1 is being relocated and upgraded. This is a positive move for Mansfield as it will allow for better response and a safer community. BUT in doing so, the cost and the ROI for the old location must be achieved to make this move financially worth it vs just refurbishing the old station.

More Townhomes are coming to Downtown. Also including some more Commercial Spaces (shopping).
We have trouble keeping businesses now and walk traffic is very low. This is a start, but all the proposals for development need to happen at the same time...no more waiting or promises.

What Happened?!
Promises and delays, then nothing!
City spent allot on this, waited for something to happen, then pulled it.
Waiting and waiting and promises has only led to economic failure downtown. Where else could this happen in our city?

Who Wants MORE??!!
Well, we are getting MORE!
It isn't about "complexes" it is now about "MIXED USE"
Only way to pay for all the growth is to chase tax revenue...That is a dangerous path!

Staybolt District - Stadium
So much development and Money!
Hotels, condos, apartments, shops, traffic...noise? Tax revenue?
Could be really good "IF" all goes as predicted. Does it always?
